THE BAND....

Next up - a personal introduction of Paul Shaffer, equally charismatic in his own down to earth way...what a team! Then intros of each band member. Paul's awesome band rock the audience from beginning to end... and throughout the show including every commercial break with tasty unique arrangements that Paul creates for every show, for every week - for every guest. A master at work! Following the broadcast, I had the extreme pleasure of hanging with the band while they quickly practiced for their next show that day.
David Letterman Show

CG was a Paul S's guest on the Monday July 16th DL show with guest Michelle Pfeiffer. Although no pic's are allowed at the infamous ED Sullivan theatre, CG was allowed a few candid "set" shots while hanging out on the familiar late evening show's set, after the show. One of the many, many advantages to viewing the show live is the show's warm up comedian, followed by Mr.. Letterman's personable opening discussion with the audience... such presence!...
JOYS JOURNAL - JULY 17th
****
Translucent's Debbie Walker is having a blast in New York City with her talented client, Christie Grace. The tracks to the song, Moon River, have been laid at Times Square's Quad Recording Studio with Christie on vocals and the renowned Paul Shaffer of the Letterman Show on piano. As Paul walked down from the CBS Studio's fresh from the David letterman Show taping, thunder and lightening broke out. But that didn't deter him.
He had to be there for his longtime buddy who had
grown up with him as childhood friends in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The upcoming CD, Contemplation, is due to be released this October...

Go TEAM Go!
World Trade Center
On my last trip to NY I spent a fun filled day at the World Trade Center barely three months before the infamous tragic date of 9 eleven.
Returning to the site was a profound experience. I appreciated the candid conversation with fellow firefighters who honoured their heroic comrades at their station with commemorative headstones and bronzed helmuts. It was very emotional.
While they expressed a forward thinking renewed sense of moving forward which is visible in the entire site with the new construction of multiple buildings, I felt a tremendous sadness. My song Shelter Me from the Storm was written the day following New Yorks incredible loss. I've never performed it. Perhaps I will, perhaps I won't.
Bless them ALL!
Upstate New York....
What an refreshing experience it was to take the train to Duchess NY to visit our dear friend John S's pastoral bird sanctuary (home). A wonderful unexpected addition to our fabulous visit with Paul.
John rushed off to visit family on Bowen Island. We hope he has as much fun there as we did here.
Thank you John for your warm hospitality and support.
Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty!
Did you know that the Statue of Liberty was all done in re posse... a technique
that requires an amazing level of expertise ...the French's generosity and attention to detail on this massive sculpture is absolutely breathtaking... ...the entire statue was formed copper in multiple folds upon folds of material draped on her expansive cloak...although the inside of the sculpture is closed due to 911's high security, it was nevertheless, an inspiring experience.
The LADY and the OTHER two ladies!!!...DW and I

I am pleased as punch! to welcome you to the humble beginnings of my new music website. So....welcome!
I am currently working on my new CD , " Contemplation ", that will be released in the late Fall. Like a piece of art....this site will slowly change , mirroring the CD release process. So stay tuned!
My awesome producer and I, Bill Runge are very proud of this exciting jazz project . Along with some beloved standards, I have written and co written many new songs including " West Coast Girl" that is being debuted on ET on Wed. July 11th. Check it out!
My wonderful band members include many of the cream of the jazz community including Michael Creber, Chris Gestrin, Daryl Jahnke, Pepe Danza, Jodi Proznick, Dave Robbins and Vince Mai. From my "Joni Mitchell Retrospective" musical tribute in 2003 ;I chose two of her classics " Both Sides Now" and " Woodstock".
And last... but certainly not least, the added cherry on top, is a piano/voice duet , " Moon River" , with dear friend, Paul Shaffer- band leader of the David Letterman Show. An extraordinary outworking that I will seek to capture in my daily blog. I can hardly wait!!!
Thanks for hanging with me!

Last Thursday, July 5 I had the unexpected pleasure of welcoming ET CANADA ! to my studio on Bowen Island. After an informal interview with the show's beautiful host- Erin Cebula- I sang one of my favorite new songs: " West Coast Girl" accompanied by pianist extraordinaire, Michael Creber.
I will never forget when Erin turned to me and said: "OK Christie here's your chance to sing to the whole nation". Kind of sent tingles up my spine ...it was so much fun!!! We closed with a verse of Moon River- the famous Mancini song I am recording next Wed. in New York with my friend Paul Shaffer!
More to come on this amazing outworking, as I fly out with my fabulous publicist, Debbie Walker on Tuesday. I'll keep you posted!
I thoroughly enjoyed this unique opportunity-thank you Erin and ET!!!
